THE ESCAPE STORY

Making excuses can be extremely addictive. The first time an excuse saves you from some deep trouble, your adrenaline levels shoot up and the relief that comes after that has no exact comparison. The satisfaction is off the charts. The adrenaline is more like that of a near death experience.

That kind of adrenaline hike is also very addictive. It is therefore never a long time till you find yourself in a situation that could use a little escape story. It never feels wrong. Never! Well, maybe not at first; initially, it compares to ecstasy. Taking you high and then later making you feel like the worst person on earth! Slowly but surely, it becomes a habit as you assume to be getting better at it.

It actually gets worse to a point where you already have an escape story before you actually choose to cross a moral line. The excuse might rarely be a lie but it is, in itself, very rare for one who frequently makes excuses not to possess a lying problem too. They usually go hand in hand. The reason as to why one of the characteristics of such persons is the possession of quite a huge number of words. To be honest, I do love the company of fellows who are creative or inventive in the way they use words. They are entertaining chaps. They always gift you with gift of a good laugh whenever you hang out with them.

These people have understood a few major points about this life. Yes, it’s all a cheap shot but hey; life’s not that fair you know. Playing by the rules when the referee is already biased doesn’t really make much sense you know. Hit a few players too and even out the playing field a little.

Adapt! You can’t keep working by the book with the knowledge that the system is already rigged. That’s called lying to yourself! Bend the rules, twist the norms, go for short cuts, but make sure you are aware of the consequences! After all the universe doesn’t owe you anything.

Clear your conscience. A good deed done expecting the universe to pay you back doesn’t really sound very good for you. Do good and move on or else don’t do it at all. You wanna be good? Then be good, but don’t put on an entire show. Whatever you choose to do, just don’t deceive your very self.

If the choice is to be bad, then be very bad and proud of it. Wanna be both? Fine, go ahead, be a double agent; just don’t lie to your very self. Choose! Sitting on the fence never brings any good news. If you have chosen to be a double agent or trade on double standards, then be exactly that but understand that the author of hypocrisy is also the Devil and he is the Accuser. He will accuse you in the High Places at a time you are deprived of all defenses. Also understand this! Don’t go around showing others that you’re only good. Take your time and make a decision. How do you know it’s the right decision? Well, you just know; the heart knows what it wants!

Logically, with the inner peace from whatever side you have taken, there would be no need to help yourself with an escape story. You would be comfortable with your life style, or at least for the most part! But hey, what do I know? I just come here to make noise, that’s all; I don’t research, I just blubber out whatever comes to mind.

Life doesn’t really have a particular formula because, guess what? We all have different lives. So, ignore whatever I just said and do whatever you want. Yes, the pain is real because life is real; karma’s real, society judges, reputation is built and can crumble in a moment. Respect and all – the entire package!

We don’t just exist; we live out our existence alongside other life forms. In as much as there isn’t a particular formula, acknowledging that we aren’t the first and most probably won’t be the last, gives us a wider angle of decision making on how stubborn we want to be.

So, put all that into perspective and then just do whatever comes to mind. I may not be the best example here, but at least I try; whenever I feel like making some noise here, I just do it, take the cover off and pour all my heart out. After that, I go out and buy some candy!
